About Me

I am a homeschooling mother of two with more coals in the fire than I would like to admit. After graduating from the Children’s Institute of Literature in West Redding, Connecticut, my writing ceased. I started having kids and my world revolved around them. My son Colton is fourteen and my daughter Karson is eleven. The only regret I have from homeschooling is: we should have done it sooner. My son went to public school through the fifth grade and my daughter through the third. We are involved in The Baytown Homeschoolers Group where I am the treasurer. Our group is growing by leaps and bounds, and we are blessed to have this group available. There are amazing moms and dads out there that are so

involved in their children’s lives and education, and I am thankful for all their help and guidance through this adventure.

Now that the kids are older, I do have more time to focus on my writing. I have been writing The Childrens Bedtime Story in a local monthly magazine called, The Hometown Journey for almost three years. Having this opportunity has been enjoyable, and has opened a few doors. The first story I wrote for my series was Ollie the Ostrich, and was told this story would be difficult to publish if it rhymed. Knowing differently, I sent this story to The Hometown Journey and I have been writing for them ever since. I know it will be difficult to get some of my stories into the public schools, since they have a Christian background and mention God. Already having a taste of this, my reply was,”I will not take God out of my stories.” I am currently working on a supernatural, martial arts, young adult novel.
Since homeschooling, being treasurer of our homeschool group, running my daughter to competitive gymnastics, hauling my son to boy scouts, keeping my husband’s books for his business, and writing wasn’t enough, I have recently been promoted to second degree black belt. I am now training and looking forward to third degree. This is not easy when you are thirty-eight years old, but it is something I love and do not plan on quitting. Maybe when I’m eighty-three, and having to use a walker, I will think of a different hobby.
